Where is the fields panel in the paticules physics tab ?

in the feeblemind boids tutorial , he says :

Select the Prey cube emitter and in the Physics buttons, in the Fields panel, choose PSys instead of Object…

Where is that fields panel ? i cant see it .

found it…

Where?..

It is in physics subcontext (the middle icon - since now the particle sytem has its own subcontext) in the Object context (F7) in the Buttons window . Look in the Fields panel and just hit the up/down arrows . If you have a particle system set up it will show in the menu - just like for using softbodies on static hair particles …

@Tweakingknobs : I realize all the new particle settings and how it ties into the other parts of the physical simulation/animation system can get very frustrating, but posting a flurry of questions and then asking whether or not the new particle system is working or not and then self replying with a “fixed” and “found it” with little or no explanation doesn’t seem like very good forum manners … someone else might have the same question/problem …

And BTW your flocking bird animation is not quite “fixed” (it might “look” like how you might want it to, but it still has some basic problems …) … Your bird mesh and armature have unapplied rotations to them (I thought this was the case of your problems … and this still might cause you grief later) … but since you feel it is fixed and you have actions already assigned I won’t go into trying to fix them .

But for future reference there is a new Edit Methods option called “Aligned to View” - turn that off and all new objects will be added with no view dependent alignment/rotations . All objects will have the Z as the up axis in other words so you don’t find yourself in a situation where you make extensive animations to an armature that has unapplied rotations (this usually means starting over) . Just remember to Ctrl-U to save this the default mode after you turn off “Aligned to View” .
