Where to get good textures?

Hi everyone,
well, the subject sort of explained my question.
I’m really starting to understand modeling (hehe, at least a little bit) but I need a place where I can find some really great textures that are free.
So, where to go?
The one i’m using most is mayang’s free textures. They are all really great, but I’m lacking in the fields of sand/walls.
Any sugestions?

a digital camera?

actually, blender3d.org linked to:
http://www.vb3d.com/Textures.html

http://www.imageafter.com/
and of course:
http://www.mayang.com/textures/

Never forget http://images.google.com/ - make sure to include “texture” and “seamless” in the search

If you need seamless textures, there is a very useful tool for rebuilding an image into a seamless texture that can wrap just left-to-right, just top-to-bottom or in all directions. It’s available as a GIMP plugin and can also be used to restyle images and remove unwanted features from textures as well.

This doesn’t just remap the image at an offset with smoothing - it tries to interpret the image and build a new one following the form of the input. It isn’t quick though - run small tests first to work out if the settings you have chosen are working well.

There is a companion tool called homogenizer which removes gradients from images to aid in building seamless textures.

Cheers,
Toby

Here is an earlier thread where I listed a few sites:
