White is the new black?

I have an two stacked cylinders. The top has a highly reflective mirrored surface and the bottom is an opaque black. This has always rendered fine. But then I added an image as the world background and now the bottom cylinder is white?

What happened?

Thanks!

You’re in blender internal renderer right?
Decrease the “Ambient” value in the “Shading” tab of the material as much as you like.

Thanks LV, that fixed it!
