white sections in uvmaps that appear unmapped

Can anyone tell me what this is and how to fix it so the texture apples itself to the white areas?
I’ve trend recalculating, flipping normals and removing doubles but none of those seem to fix it.

I didn’t know I needed it,
the texture file is 4096x4096 or there abouts.
Is that too large?

You may not but we no nothing about your materials used or object settings, so yes we do

I couldn’t care less about the size as long it can be seen clearly in the viewport and render

Do you have the material also assigned to those faces? If yes, then we really need the file (I don’t think in this case, there’s need for the texture, as it looks ok in your screenshot, and the problem is for sure somewhere else)

thanks both of you. I realized I modeled this by extruding from another model and what I should have done is model it on it’s own, which I did, and made a much better model without those problems.
I could have given you it to fix but I found the problem was not the model, it was the modeler (me)
