Whoa GI Weirdness

Ok, i am experimenting with GI.

I desire to do a very soft lighted scene, heavy on real lighting. There will be a mirrored floor and GI (assuming these tests prove useful), and probably another soft lightsource to give some depth in color.

Now i am completely new to GI, and via this tutorial, did my first successful GI render.

However, i have 3 mesh’s atm. a small sphere type object, a floor plane, and a Icosphere that is used to emit the GI crap. Now this is all well and fine… but after the experiment, all of a sudden my objects are gone. They seem to be all put into one giant mesh and the original’s dont seem to exist…

Is this normal? To my knowlege i did everything right…

So ya… i’ll probably have more questions too, but this is the most pressing.

Thanks!

In the Radio Tool panel you have the option to replace the original mesh or add a new mesh. You probably choose to replace your original mesh.

ah, well i didnt know what did what. And thats what the tutorial told me to lol.

Does that mean for GI to work you have to combine all the mesh’s together?

(even if you dont replace, you still have to copy all the mesh’s into one, then simply only render that mesh and not the others. )
