Hi , i was wondering why did the web 3d feature was removed ? i think it was a very nice feature.
I never tried it , but do you know if there is a chance to bring it back to an official release ?

There’s nobody interested in maintaining it anymore. On top of that, the web plugin has always been quite unstable, so I guess it would need a lot of work…

This is the last version of the 3d web plugin, for Blender release 2.43:

I probably re-build a version for Blender 2.43 once its released. It’s probably more stable then regular Blender but there are no resources for maintenance and multiplatform support. It’s just Internet Explorer, or Firefox with IE plugin. Other platforms will need to be done by others…
Bart: When will you put up the news about the game engine on your website ‘Blendernation.com’ ? Didn’t you mail me you would mention the upcoming rigidbody constraints in the game engine? If you do, please also add real-time lightmaps support too: http://www.continuousphysics.com/Bullet/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=752
Thanks,
Erwin
mh there are so many other 3d options out today.
but it might make sense to have a solution from blender as well but i doupte many here would use it.
i would love to put my 3d stuff into the web as an interactive version.
Erwin, keep up the good work on the engine.
I really wish the Blender full glory web capabilities come back
there needs to be one for Firefox alone, IE is just too, uh old fashioned now, its merely coping features from Firefox
Same here!
The 3D web-plugin was GREAT and made many peoples sites special
and much more fun to be at.
Besides - online 3D games would really take off with the new Bullet engine.
Using Bullet for Online-games makes a LOT more sense than using
it for standalone executables imho.
So thanks to Erwin for bringing it back to life -
Joongle that pretty true.
i agree with you. this would not only enable online 3d artwork but also interactive applications. from product demos to interactive websites …
I have created a simple game for testing it. It works but not as it supposed to be. I move an object along different spots to get different lighting on it. In blender the game runs ok, but in the plugin the object moves but the lighting on it is invisible or there is no extra light…
i think the main problem is security.
as long as there isn’t a sandbox (which is kind of tricky with python but as far as i know there are people working on it) the blender webplugin is a huge security risk and will never get widespread.
Why? How does it allow access to, and how?
Thanks
