These are shadow artifacts. Turn shadows off.

thank you - so is that a typical problem with shadows in Solid view vs Rendered view?

It’s just “a” problem with Eevee shadows, as far as I know.

Interesting, because this shadow problem is only in my Solid view. In my Rendered view (Eevee) it’s fine.
