Why blender switched from blendrig to cloud rig

does anybody know why blender switched from blendrig to cloud rig, is it just me or blendrig seems and i think is far more advanced ?

Blendrig works only for Bipedal characters (or humanoids, basically), while rigify/cloudrig is a modular system that works more like “building blocks”, you can mix and match the different rig types however you want, so you can rig pretty much anything with it.

I can’t say for sure why the Blender Studio is not using Blendrig anymore but I’d say that’s at least part of the reason, a modular rigging system is a lot more convenient.

Another reason is that since the goal of the open movies is to push boundaries of blender, it’s very likely that their auto-rig system need updates during the production. What I mean is that their rigger is generally also in charge of developping the auto-rig. Maybe the author of blendrig didn’t want to move to amsterdam to work at the blender studio ?
