No matter what i do , it’s always about “BLENDER RENDER TIME BENCH” even when searching for ANIMATION VIEWPORT SPEED benchs specifically…
Why is it such a taboo? Why can’t i compare a given animated scene and see what hardware can handle it better? "Render render render " it’s all about render, if i can"t animate anything properly i’m not going to render anything…
So now i always carry a hard drive with me to test the viewport speed on any machine i can to see how they perform with the animated scene. ( and i should not have to do that )
That’s a good point, I’d like to see that as well.
Although I think that “animation” is a little too broad to be benchmarking. There are so many different ways to animate, so many different parameters, that are going to lead to a confusing mess of benchmarks. One machine would do well with subdiv, one wouldn’t, stuff like that.
But a simple armature benchmark, say 40k verts, no other modifiers, render workbench at low res to minimize rendering component, would probably give a good idea of what an animator is looking for. I’d expect it to track single thread CPU performance pretty closely.
