Why do I fail creating a normal map? (I fixed it)

I know there is a similar thread down below but I could only find methods that didn’t work for me.

I have tried to make a normal map as said here http://www.blender.org/cms/Normal_Maps.491.0.html but if I toggle to only x, y, z with “nor” as map input I get nothing. Just gray, see attatched image for my config setttings.

I have also tried with a photoshop plugin from nvidia but then I don’t get any red or green included, just gradients of blue.

There isn’t much of images to show, but here is a low resolution image of the texture I want to make a normal map of. And an image with the current config of the X coords when creating a normal map which turns out white/gray. And a last image where I use my color map as a normal map.

thanks.

Edit: Added the normal map I got from the photoshop plugin.

Edit: To be more specific, I want to create a normal map from my current texture.

Edit: I managed to do it in nvidias plugin… so no need for help enymore. Thanks anyway.

The link you posted is talking only about planar normal maps.

The upcoming 2.43 should has support for baking normal maps. However currently only in camera space, the tangent space normal baking, which you need, is yet to be added.
