I don’t want it. I don’t need it. How can i hide it or get rid of it completely???

What purpose is it supposed to be serving?!?

As has already been said, it can be very useful and powerful to place objects, align things or pivot around.

One thing that may help you is to disable the default behavior that places it when you left click. In the user preferences, go to the Input tab, then 3D View/set 3D Cursor. Replace that with something else (like perhaps shift-click) Now the cursor will stay put unless you do that, so you can more easily keep it out of your way until you need it.
