Why does my smoke sim look like minecraft?

Hi,

Can someone please tell me what i need to tweek to get my flames looking natural, they have blocks all over them.

Im new to smoke sim, so hoping its something easy. I’ve tried render samples all the way up to 400 and set high detail on the sim but no difference.


Have you tried turning off motion blur or turning it down?

do you have volumetrics in your environment?

You have set the density too high in the shader, you are seeing the actual rectangular voxel area in your render.

I think you’ll have to increase box size and maybe disable the optimization for skipping empty cells.

Oh, duh, look at your color ramp. You are routing an emission of zero to the color orange. So any part of the volume with a density of zero get’s colored orange. You need a separate color ramp to drive the emission, or change that far left orange color to black. Keep a black color chit on the far left side to zero out that brightness.
