Why is this glass not clear in 2.69

today whichever car model i bring into blender, the glass looks clear on the material part of the screen but not when rendered.

Do you have ray tracing enabled in your rendering settings?

please remind me how to check that.

Well I can’t remember if it’s exactly the same in 2.69, but in 2.79 it’s located here:

If you don’t mind my asking, why are you using such an old version? I understand not everyone is comfortable with 2.8, but 2.79 is a lot newer, why not use that instead?

To be honest, it’s been so long since I’ve done any actual renders in Internal that I can’t really say. What happens if you try Z transparency?
