Why isn't the text showing up on the screen?

I have put text into my game but it never shows up when I play, why not?

The BGE only supports mesh objects so text objects, meta objects, and nurbs won’t show up. You can however convert text to a mesh with ALT+C.

Or follow this tutorial. Which is how text is supposed to be used in the BGE
