Why I've been inactive - where I've been, what I've been doing, etc

Hey everyone!
Long time no see!
I’m uncertain how many of y’all might remember me, perhaps most notable of my work is some black hole renders I posted here two or three years ago. I’ve been pretty much completely inactive here since about two years ago, due to a few reasons:

Mainly, an increased workload at college (I’m 4/5 years through my Nanotechnology Engineering degree!) demanded more of my attention, compared to using Blender, never mind posting. I’ve also been working on being more outside in the “real world” and less on social media (with the notable exception of my Instagram haha), getting more into student groups, having more varied hobbies (conlanging, anyone?), having a really interesting deepening of my faith, and, in general, “touching grass”. Also, one of my growing interests is in astronautics (gee, who could have thought (/s), seeing what most of my renders were about haha), so I’ve been beginning to pursue my ambition to someday become a (scientist-)astronaut, of which there have been very few from Mexico.

I also had some tech issues that made uploading images here really finicky for a long time, so that also contributed somewhat.

I’ve still done some Blender these years, but the above mentioned factors combined with my losing a lot of my old files due to some hardware changes have led to renders being much more sporadic. I’m gonna be posting some of the better ones I’ve saved, and any future renders I make.

I also want to thank everyone who welcomed me to this community a few years back, your feedback, really helped me to improve, and your acceptance and praise did wonders for my self-confidence. Y’all are appreciated

In case y’all are interested in seeing more of what I’ve been doing off here, here’s my IG and LinkedIn:

Also my website is hopelessly outdated  , I should really update it sometime soon

Welcome back.

Is that you climbing that wall?

I’m too old and fat to even try stuff like that any more.

Indeed haha!

Trying to get more in shape

Also, rock/wall climbing is great for getting used to heights

Not rock / wall climbing in the general sense, but I did climb this (very) tall ladder fairly recently. The photo does not do justice to how high it is!

I actually discovered that I have a fear of heights when I was in Boy Scouts — did a COPE course and about 50 feet into the air I realized that I had fear.

IDK why. It wasn’t like I was afraid I would die or anything (I knew I wouldn’t), but it is to this day something I have to deal with every time I get up anywhere high. Just getting on the top of the house to clean the gutters messes with me, even for how cool it is to be able to do that.

It’s rather annoying, actually.
