as a test I put mp4 videos on a couple of planes.
videos have sound but the output from blender is a silent movie.
I used avi raw
does blender do sound yet?

It has done for many years
Avi RAW does not support audio. It is for use as an uncompressed intermediate format not for a final output. Use a proper codec that supports audio
