Wierd Tank Track behaviour-Sudden Jerk.

So after a few tutorials I tried making tracks.

For some reason the tracks jerk all of a sudden as if it snagged on something. But then it auto unstucks itself and moves on only to repeat it a few more times. How to make it run smoothly.

Please help.I think theres a video I can post along with the file. The track rig is on the 2nd layer.

This video is not a rendered video, but a screencast - render the thing as a video and see how it looks. If you notice in the top left your frame rate drops when your computer cannot cope with the workload, so drops the frame rate - this is why it jerks. To see the proper thing you have to render out to video and then watch that.

Having said all that I am a little worried by all these parent lines disappearing from the tank to the grouped objects. This is not the best way to do tank tracks - use a single pad object - add an array modifier to get all the pads required - then use a Curve modifier to bend this around the path of the track. This you then move around the curve or move the curve and the tank tracks will behave.

There is a very good tutorial here https://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?276418-Tank-Track-Tutorial by the very knowledgable Norvman - I would read that and then re-think what you are doing here (see the last post for up to date tutorials). There are many Youtube tutorials that aren’t very good…

Cheers, Clock.

Hi I just finished watching his video.I know of that method.
Mine is somewhat of that but it uses the physics tab alot more. The tracks are along the curve by using the array and curve tool and yes I can rotate it around the curve like a normal track.

But what Im trying to do is create a more realistic form of tracks where it bends and raises from uneven ground or bounce when it goes over a hill. Thus I use generic springs and motor on the wheels. But its really buggy where the tracks get stuck in the drive wheel.Id render but it would take half a day or so.So I was just trying to make sure.

I rendered the video and it still jerked like in the viewport.Damn 6 hours lol.
