Windows 10 slower render

Hi, I recently freely updated my windows version from 7 to 10 in hope it would fasten my render times.
I compared the new render times with my old using a benchmark-file and found that the GPU rendering is excactly the same (or maybe 1 sec slower) while the CPU rendering is significantly slower: 5:40 min compared to the old 5:08. :frowning:

After some googling I understand I’m not the only one having troubless with the free windows 10 update, but is there anything I can do about this, or should I downgrade back to windows 7? I’ve checked my CPU and GPU drivers and they’re up to date.

Thanks!

If the only thing you’ve done is upgrade and haven’t changed anything else than you should downgrade if you can.

Or switch over to linux.

Besides upgrading I’ve updated my CPU and GPU drivers, is it still a good idea to downgrade?

Is Linux still faster than Windows in term of rendering?

If you really want to stick with Windows 10, you might want to disable some of the many built-in applications by default (Cortana for instance tends to suck up a lot of CPU cycles).
