Just a poll.
it is far more stable than previous windows versions. Granted I still crash programs (I have a tendency to ask them to do things they don’t want to), but I don’t crash or freeze up my whole system anymore.
Yeah, I quite like XP. As a rule I dont particularly like microsoft (bad memories) but XP seems to work pretty well.
I got a multiboot system with both win98se and winxp. And i still prefer using 98. I like some features in XP but not enough to keep using it.
my favorite thing about XP is that you right-click on something, and voila! A list that says open with! You can open a file in any program you could want! (Gee what would happen if you used word to open a blend?)

Same thing happened in 98 and later if you held down shift and right-clicked.
well,at least xp is better than windows ME(well,it seems better)…so far i’m happy with it.
I agree, XP is much better than ME. ME drove me completely nuts.
All versions of windows have their ULTRA SUPER ANNOYING quirks. XP was good while it worked, but now it’s really making me mad, so I don’t know. My grandpas XP just stopped booting up one day, he hadn’t done anything different, but it just sits at the loading screen forever. Explorer STILL crashes every once in a while - the same bahavior has been in EVER SINGLE VERSION OF WINDOWS, I can’t believe that bug has been around since 1994. So far, windows 2000 is my favorite windows, although even it got messed up really bad once, maybe I just have bad luck.
So currently I hate xp.
Looks nice, but its SUPER BLOATED (I mean come on, 2 gigabytes for an OS? That’s rediculous.) It makes you register to send microsoft your computer’s information. Once when my screen resolution got messed up (to the point where the monitor wouldnt accept the output) windows xp offered me NO way to revert back. I had to reinstall. Every once in a while, it just crashes - I mean, it just reboots without saying anything, out of no where. And xp requires 512 megs of memory or MAN it runs slow. You open a file directory and sit their waiting for 10 seconds before it wakes up. And don’t even try to log in seperate accounts at once:)
I have ME on another computer and usually have no problems with it. It actually runs better than xp on this computer. But I’ve heard horror stories about it from other people so I know it’s not all good:)
And linux is great, but difficult, and hard to make it compatible with stuff. Dependancies are a pain. Most of the software for it is open source and only half complete. So its not the best thing either. But at least its stable:) I’ve had it running for months at a time without having to reboot it ever. Every once in a while, my web browser will crash, but you can just log out of KDE and then back in again and it’s alright. I suppose this is similar to explorer crashes in windows, but this is free software - its excusable:)
Someone needs to make an OS that’s actually good. Cause right now, in my opinion, they pretty much all suck.
I don’t know why every1 complains so much about ME. I’ve got it on my newish computer and it works brilliantly. Very stable, very reliable. I’ve got the proper ME installation tho, I heard there was an upgrade installation from 98 to ME and that didn’t work very well, but the proper ME installation works beautifully.
I’ve only used XP a few times but I find it annoying cos it seems to be built entirely for newbies and people who can’t live without office assistant type characters and speech bubbles!!

Well, mainly because it sucks…
I guess you got a special no-mess up everything version. Or your computer is pretty good. But ME has all kinds of bugs, go to some computer website and search for a thread on ME. All the people that i know that have been or are on ME have all had really bad problems. I guess it might not be good for gameing, if you’re using it for just programs like Photoshop or Word it might be fine.

I got 91 pages of pure gibberish… ![]()
I play lots of games on my computer. Unreal Tornament, Elite Force, Jedi Knight, blender games… they all work fine on ME.
Sometimes I’ve had it get stuck on the loading screen. It’s an easy problem to solve. Just turn the computer off and on again, and that usually solves it. Then connect to the internet and use the windows update thingy. That worked out great for me.
actually,i got a problem on xp…when i work with armatures(pose mode) and i click to drag the armature, blender crashes.i don’t know why.it also crashes on the same way when i click on the show axis button(on the edit buttons window) and try to drag an object.anybody with the same prob on xp? do you know how to fix it?
ps:don’t tell me that i got a funky comp. cause it’s new or to get rid of my OS. LOL :x :x

If you zoom in really close on what you’re selcting, you’re fine.
nope! same problem.something else,please? ![]()
anybody knows how to solve my problem? i can’t use blender cause of that.
Have you tried it in blender 2.3? If you can’t get anything else to work, do your armature work in 2.23 and then work on the rest in 2.25.
I still like 2.23 better anyway, except for the publishing features, 2.23 is faster!
hhhhhmmmm…i’ll try with 2.23 then.
