Wings vs cheapo modelling package?

Hi, Just asking for a few oppinions on modelling software. I’ve got the chance of some pro gigs coming my way in the arch-viz vein and I know that Blender’s importers and exporters are kinda flaky.

On top of that, I’ve been revisiting one of my old models to upgrade for Turbo Squid and found that Blender’s modelling tools are not what they might be.

To cut to the chase, I’m thinking of shelling out for another modelling app. I don’t think that £4,000 for a copy of Maya will really be in my best interest. I’m looking for a smaller package, more focused on modelling specifically, but having a link (maybe through Blender via Yafaray?) to a nice renderer.

I’ve been looking at Silo and one or two others. Wings is supposedly an excellent package (and FREE!). Anyone got any recommendations?

Modo from Luxology comes to mind, its cheaper then Maya but not cheap. Maybe 3D studio Viz, dare I say the words :S

Well I tested Silo and Wings to check others modelling software, and didn’t like neither (it’s just not my kind of workflow), but I can say that they are both pretty similar, Silo’s interface is a lot more friendly tough, and kind of felt a bit better working on it, but in essence they have a similar workflow.

Check into MoI for nurbs/mechanical (like-rhino) modelling ability with a really clean interface and good price.
