Just having numbers you can call from different scenes to pull the assets, i have the area generation under control for now with L3DT.
There was a normalmap on that other scene, that was one of my research shots while I was testing out everything I wanted. In the end, we have to wait for the GLSL to get a little better, so we will be using mega textures generated by L3DT and at most some shadows and such with the GLSL for gorgeousness… LOL
Those megatextures will be overlayed with texture splatting later for those that can use the GLSL once it gets improved, L3DT can generate the stencils on the fly too.
looks great so far, and sounds like you have the main storyline. Man I’d love to help out, but… I’ve been thinking about looking into the game engine but I didn’t quite understand how to get started, I mean, I understand how make a ball roll and stuff, but that’s as far as I got. Still love to help out where possible, however, I am a terrible texture-artist, with no experience with the game engine, don’t know any python but I think I’m an okay modeller, so if you need anything, just say so.
Ive seen your work b4, I think your pretty good. I loved your treetop villiage scene. Of course there are TONS of stuff to do…
I need to get everyone together SOON, so i can lay out the plans for out first mini goal.
Which is going to be the Annointed Capitol city Ghenghan from the first part of the story.
Everyone that has volunteered so far. Please PM me your email address so I can get you the instructions to join my chat server. I need your dates times and stuff you are available and where your at in the world so I know what time it is there. I need to get us organized.
And dont worry, everyone will get credit for all they do!
Please continue to post here your progress and such and wheather you want to join or whether you have suggestions or not.
and + raise-lower the “Level” property, and space switches scenes.(one is empty, one has three cubes.) try changing the number, then restarting the program.
I don’t think I have “superpowers” as you said, lol. But I can help (partially) I’ve been really busy with 2 game projects, but I think I may be able to do some stuff. Check out my site freewebs.com/blenderresources for great resources. The real time rain sim is the best demo I released.
Just PM me with what you want me to do.
PS: I’m on holiday this week till next sunday [i think]. And I’m going to be launching my 3d career very, very, soon. I can still do stuff this week though.
curleystraw - You know when i saw that you had that already I just got soo excited!!! i played with it for a minute and it seems to work perfectly.! THANK YOU!
zymn - do you have a way to upload the bridge?
curlystraw - Is all you wanna do is python stuff? Do you wanna model too? im sorry if I assumed that coding is all you wanna do without asking you first.
I still need the rest of you to pm me with your email so I can give you intructions for my chat server.

Thats the initial TO DO for Ghenghan. will be adding as we go!
Post what your working on before you start! So others dont!
The inhabitants are the Anointed. they are the dragon slayers and the main antagonist to the dragon players. They are are just under giant size people. They get bigger with each dragon they kill. They actually “grow” thier armour from thier skin as they get bigger too with each dragon they kill. So they are sort of like DoomsDay where they grow chitonous armor plate along their bodies. Except they are Smart too! they max around 24 feet tall after they have killed at least one of each of the 20 dragons.
They are BAD - REAL BAD!
The main inhabitants fo the city will not be the full size slayers, it will be the normal NON-WARRIOR Anointed which average around 8 feet tall. and 350 lbs of brick shit-house. but the city will still need to be scale wise big enough to handle the big ones swaggering through from time to time. As most of the big ones are out hunting and killing anything that doesnt listen to them.
See previous post for color info. Ill get you the textures when I get home from work.
The overall style of the city is very clean cut. they are technological, but things arent made for beauty as much as functionality. So instead of shutters on the windows, they will be droppable Slats in the wall above the window.
Instead of flowerpots on the windows it spikes.
Hedgegroves only serve to mark out territory.
The roofs arent shingles, they are copper or bronze.
The doors are heavy wood, but would look cool with steal covered riveted corners.
ADDITION! -
The whole city is powered by a HUGE windmill that is out in the middle of one of the larger lakes. it pumps the water from the lake up to the plateau the city is on through a mid air aquaduct. It Powers the fountain the grain mill and other things…
Can anyone think of other neat stuff would be powered by the water?
a huge canon or something maybe? sounds lame but since it’s a fire-water-air thing, since you have dragons( usually fire), you mentioned a windmill, and since you said they built their city to be a sort of fort… they need some defences I presume.
edit: oh, I forgot… is there any form of concept art?
I would have to say Nickadimos, you really thought this out. It’s ambitious, but you’ve shown me enough concept work to go beyond proving yourself worthy. I can’t help, but I do wish you luck.
peace,
-nick
P.S. this should be an example thread for all of you who plan on showing us your game concept.
here’s a nice little UV scrolling water:water demo.blend (173 KB)
(both of these were made by me, just incase you were wondering about the “here is a nice” as if I was presenting someone else’s work. sorry if this seems dumb, but I hate plagerism, especially in scripts. Look at it, learn from it, make your own it what I say. :))
yournamehere - Thanks MAN! I really appreciate you saying that! that really boosts me! trust me, what you see, is barely 5% of what I got!
BleedForMe - No i dont have much concept art yet, im not a very good artist. I have a buddy in michigan that can to the dot paintings like, Van Goh, but, he is agorophobic, wont answer the phone the door nothing… been a real kick in the pants getting ahold of him when I need to… LOL So no, no concept art yet, at least in the major aspects.
Guys just remember, we are nowhere near actually makeing a game yet, we are still in the concept phase, the game is planned out and all, as far as that stuff is concerned, but now we need to take our time and really look at each peice as it comes. And make it right!
I like how the insides of the buildings are separate scenes… thats a GREAT idea!! that will allow for more detail in the environment!
GREAT THINKING!!!
BleedForMe - I dont think they will need cannons, they are the most powerfull creatures on the planet next to the dragons. they are arrogant and mean, they would probably think that cannons would be thought a weakness.
Ok dude I got some time over, I can help you with your game. So what shall I do, a suggestion is to make a team of people and assign them tasks. Then have a what to do list and check everything that’s getting finished. Sorry for my english, anway tell me something I can do…
Okay, so basicly you need a concept artist, maybe two, at least one scripter, at least one rigger, at least one modeller, at least one texturer etc… that’s my opinion though, but… the more the merrier right? the more people, the more to help out another who might be stuck somewhere, how many people have you got so far?
