WIP: prop for "Snapshot" UPDATE: Camera Strap

After “Checkmate” I’ve decided to do another image in the same motif.

Here is the main prop for my current WIP:

I’m working very hard to get the lens elements to render correctly (hard!) because the image is going to be composed with the camera lens in extreme close-up.

Anyway, please LMKWYT.

Model is good but I’ve problam with the matirial… I don’t like the yellow spec of the metirial, or is it the lighting? anyhow don’t like it :expressionless:

Ah… I believe that is the lighting. I’ve got a number of lights, each with a slightly different tint… the yellow may be too strong.

Better?

No on else has anything to say? Looking for constructive criticism here…

I really like the model.
I think you should work on the textures though.
did you use subsurf, and smooth for the model, cause the righte buttons look a little blocky.I like the texture of the lens

Yeah, I’m having some trouble with the textures… glossy Black against chrome is really hard to render!

Which textures in particular do you see problems with?

As to the film take-up knob, I had intentionally left it faceted, but I can see how it looks unintentional… I’ll see what I can do about that.

Thanks for the input. I spent the most time on the Lens elements, so some of the other textures/surfaces have suffered, i guess.

I think iit’s mostly the black parts that are boothering me.
Maybe you should make them a dark shhade of grey or blue instead of pitchblack.
Cause most things you see that seem black are almost always soem dark shade of some color:)
I would also add a smallbumpmap to the black parts to give a little more rough feel to it

OK… changes:

Black is a little less black.
“plastic” parts made a little cooler
“rubber” parts made a little warmer and a little softer.
hard edges rounded.
textured grip expressed a little more strongly.

What think?

lookin better, I would give the spec a color instead of the plain whte
