WIPUP is a website to easily share, critique and track works-in-progresses.
The reason it was created was that I believe that too much emphasis is placed on the finished art whereas the creation process is just as important - it shows how ideas have developed over time. I believe the current mediums to share works in progresses (like forum threads, blog posts, mailing lists, etc) are quite limited and wanted to create something specifically tailored towards works in progresses. It’s also a great experience to scroll through your older works and see how much you’ve improved.
I’ve been quite busy working on this website for quite some time and even though it’s still unfinished I’m going to start opening it to the public. The site should be self-explanatory in how to use (if it isn’t, it’s a bug!) It has most of the basic functionality already implemented for use as if it were a finished product but keep in mind that it’s still unfinished, and so glitches and some features might not exist yet.
Update: it’s now pretty much finished in terms of the functionality I had originally planned it for. Update 2: with the release of the beta, WIPUP is ready for its first real public consumption.
I hope it’d be valuable to the Blender community and I’m of course looking for some feedback as well. Feel free to start using it now - the site is upgraded on a monthly basis.
I think this is a really awesome idea. And I was really happy not to have to go through the usual lengthy e-mail registration signup thing. Quick and convenient. The site was very intuitive and made me smile more than once. And I’ve already thrown one of my projects.
Thanks for this - I’ve always had to jump to the completed stage without the hurly burly stage of WIP due to the lack of efficient media distribution of my WIP’s.
Well it’s been quite some time and I’ve finally found time to work on WIPUP again. There’s been a massive update and release notes are available here: http://wipup.org/updates/view/122/
All of the features except for the “What is WIPUP?” tour, “search” and “mail notifications” have been implemented. It’s now ready for public use - so I’d really appreciate comments and suggestions. Feel free to join!
Don’t forget it’s also open-source, so any webdevelopers can help chip in to implement their own features and improvements!

You press alt-` and drag out a rectangle on your screen, and it screenshots, crops, uploads then pastes the url into your clipboard - badabing badaboom - maybe it (or something like it) would go well with your site?
Thanks, Blenderer! In fact, one of the planned features for WIPUP is a “REST” setup so that applications can do exactly that! I will first create a simple CLI client, then move on to creating plugins and apps so that it can really integrate with your workflow.
Well, I’ve just released the new WIPUP beta version! Again, massive updates since the last version with the release notes available here (http://wipup.org/updates/view/184). It’s pretty much feature-complete right now in terms of the web-functionality. Now I guess it’s up for the community to tell me what they want
The next WIPUP release is going to include a REST API! This means we can do exactly what Blenderer suggested. Anybody up for creating a Blender plugin for it?
