Wireframe modifier making solid planes

When I add a wireframe modifier to this building it has lots of solid planes in it and I don’t know why. Can someone please help?

Maybe try Object > Apply > Rotation and Scale or ctrl a > rotation and scale

I’ve never had problems with modifiers before, but from now on i’ll keep that in mind.
