cool ah?

Amazing… I wish I had the tech. expertise to understand that…

Wow. This is very interesting stuff… but how many people are really going to build one of these machines??

the consumables for these things are the expensive parts.

for a 500ml container of two part resin (something that may be used in some of these devices) you are looking at $100+ for a refill of the current printers you are looking at $1000 for a Kg of plastic…

Its the same with the
current printer industry, they are selling ink at the price of about $8000 per Litre of ink… Ink is probably closer to $8 to make that quantity. this is how they can afford to sell printers for less than cost. since they expect to make it back in ink.

Alltaken

lol holy crap… i am building 1 now… ill share several pics if i actualy get it complete…

From the RepRap site:

The Solvay website is here. CAPA 6800 is supplied by the company in 20 kg paper sacks, or 500 kg bags. Currently, it appears to cost USD$ 9/kg (“USD$ 4.05/lb for a 20kg bag, not including shipping”).

So in theory this thing would be a lot cheaper to run than the inkjet sitting under yoru desk.

I am in a CAD network with Tyler and Kendall the top two CAD/CAM schools for jewelry.
