Ok, i’ve been doing blender for a couple of months now and I figured that I would learn alot better if I did a project with some people I’m talking just like a fun animation prolly around 2-4 minutes with a story line and such no time limit at all.
I am a determined person and I can basicilly do anything with my mind set but don’t excpect me to Blend like a pro and I don’t excpect anyone to have to be a pro as long as you consider yourself somewhere in the middle.

danm people have hope and faith anything is possible, but yah I guess 2-4 mins is a bit extreme I just kinda put down those numbers.
For an idea I was thinking of like a cartoonish style animation, main character would be a paperboy facing the harshness of winter. (where I live its -50 degress celsius without windchill) mainly humourous, I’m a pretty good script writer so if some more people wanted to do it I could have a story line written in a couple days.

Strate: 2-4 minutes is extremely reasonable, many projects don’t last long because people are overzealous and want things to last 2 hours.

The reason these collapse is because people aren’t payed and don’t have the motivation to work on something and be dedicated to it.

I would agreee to landis opinion that nothing you do is meaningless, even if you start a prolect and you get tired of it in the middle you have learned a lot of it. And the most important piece of a project usually is the script, so if you can fix that i wouldn’t think that it’s impossible, and as i said it would certainly bot be a waste of time.
And why would it be pathethic to be an optimist, that way you can live your life happy even if it do not always go the best way.

Strategoi, why don’t you look around and see how many of these type projects have succeeded on this forum. I’m not saying you shouldn’t do it, I’m warning you that it WILL fail unless he takes some steps.

Life is though I know, but sometimes you just have to stop bitching about it and face reality.
If I was going to start one of these projects I wouldn’t just post a message and ask someone to join. Then a whole bunch of people who don’t know what they’re getting into will join. That’s why these don’t work, anyone can join, but not all of them know what they’re getting into. I would contact people I want to be in it personally through email or private messaging, and if I can assemble a group of people that I KNOW can get the job done, then it is going to be very likely to succeed.
If you just recruit everyone, just make sure it’s not someone who will drop out because his dog died and he can’t take the stress anymore.
Also, look at how well the Muffin project is organized. They look like they are going someone. So did some of the past projects, but this one looks like it’s going along well.
Sadly I really don’t know anyone that does 3d stuff so its a little harder to get people you know, I suppose I get what your saying though… but right now I have no other alternative because I know no one; I wish to do one of these because even if it fails I and some other people will still gain experience, also this would be a nice way to get to know some people.
