I want to use Sketchup as a starting point to compose a scene. I am working with a photograph of a church building that has a smaller building attached to it. I’m only making modifications to the smaller building and want to use the original photograph as the backdrop blending the modified building into the scene. I find Sketchup’s material and rendering capabilities too limited for what I want to end up with and I cannot afford to buy any third party rendering software at the moment. Does anyone know a successful work flow between Sketchup and Blender? My aim is to import the basic shape and dimensions of the building (no fancy roof overhangs and such) and continue to modify and model in Blender before rendering. Is this possible?
The reason I want to use sketchup as a start is to take advantage of it’s model by photograph feature to have accurate dimensions to blend with the photo.
