world image problem

I just moved from cinema 4d over to blender, so far I’m diggin’ it and wondering what took me so long to get here.

BUT - when I try to apply a texture to the “world,” I get nothing. My preview window shows nothing but solid white.

If I click the “blend” button, I see an xray looking image of my texture, but it doesn’t show up when I render. I can apply the texture to an object and it works fine.

So what the heck am I doing wrong? I’ve searched for hours now and nobody seems to be having this particular idiotic problem.

Found it. In the “world panel,” it was “mapped to” BLEND. So I switched it over to HORIZONTAL.

Always a good feeling when you figure something out yes? For the rest of those buttons now you can do a search for horizon or some such in the ‘Manual’ from the help menu. Basically they aren’t exclusive and kind of all work together. I guess maybe not the help manual so much as experimentation. Well, maybe not. In the Preview panel there’s a ‘Real, Blend, Paper’ button-array that also works with the buttons you found for horizon. Real will give you the actual horizon.
