Just started a project yesterday that I have been wanting to do for a long time. I haven’t used blender in a couple of months but today I fired it up and still had it! even though I have only a couple of years expierience I am always quick to catch on. Anyways yesterday I started with the lobby arches And did one section that’s pretty accurate. There were no perfect side shots I could find of those arches so I just went by eye. Its probably not 100% accurate but I’m sure it 90% haha I arrayed the section 20 xs with a x offset of 0.725. (the actual buildings had 20 arches as well) I could really use some blueprints and photos as non 9/11 photos are hard to find these days. Up to last night o got the entire square of arches (lobby), the awning on the east side of north tower 1 with the glass pyramids on top. I don’t know the exact number of those so I guessed. I also just put a square plane for the plaza for a start. Since the world trade center towers had over 60 windows on one facade it gives a strange illusion look even when looking at it in real life. That gets annoying. I’m planning to do tower 1,2 today I will do all 7 building as accurate as I can and detailed as I can. I’ve never been 100% accurate with any models but I try my best and this one I will try harder. I’ve gotten up to about the 100th floor in both towers and will model the upper windows for the the restaurant and observation deck. Personally it came out better than i thought and I did alot in one day (school day) I know when it comes to wtc 4,5,6,7 it will be hard because theres not slot of info on them. Help is appreciated anyways I’m new so let me introduce my self. I’m Rafael Fernandez (16) haha anywhas I’ll post pics tonight when I get to my computer
Well i restarted the whole north tower because i noticed some errors I made. Heres about an hour of work. and btw i Found out the exact # of glass pyramids on the awning
about 1 30 mins of work. I thought i would have more people following … Oh well haha heres some more renders
Its looking great so far. The loby is starting to look just like I remember it. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! Yeah the lobby was great! Im going to see if I can model the interior of the building up to a few floors and maybe the restaurant
Wow, that’s looking great! I’ve never actually seen the inside of either tower until I Googled it just now, and it looks amazing. Good luck on the rest! (I would have just made a shiny rectangle with some pictures on it. ;))
Haha yeah doing all this research on the buildings surprised me I had no idea about half the things that Ive found out. I just wish I could find reference photos that arent on or after 9/11
Looking good. I love the immense size of skyscrapers especially their interiors. For pictures I would try Wikipedia, especially the Wikipedia Commons. Also the articles has some links you might find useful.
Ya these sky scrapers were inormous and ive checked everything but no luck yet I know I’ll find the jackpot sooner or later
Finally got something to show working on wtc 6 finishing outside of wtc 1 working on the walk bridge. I will model west side highway and the world financial center towers also
Amazing. You even have the vertical metal going up the tower (which turned out to be a structural flaw). And don’t forget the flammable flame retardant on the I beams.
But really, good job.
yeah thanks! those are what makes the buildings beautiful
Ive changed things throughout the whole model alot here is the first draft of the top of the north tower and the lobby (not final!) lol here you go
some more renders/blender pics! Ive worked on the TV antenna, The windows, The roof, and a lil bit of the lobby. now Im going to redo the awning pyramids, model the lobby escalators. And well see where i get from there! I think its looking pretty great!
I really like that 2nd picture. When you have the textures on it, make that a final shot.
Yea its a classic!
I redid the awning. and added some small details to that area. finally got some pics of the whole tower since its so tall! I cant tell but do yall think it looks a little to short?
(not actual southtower I will do the south tower from scratch as well! I just duplicated this.)
Haha there it is
Hmm something is missing…
Haha there it is
