WoW gnome (update 13/03/06)

welcome on my WoW project!

If anyone is interested in making a wow movie, feel free to contact me on MSN:
dodo_nightmare@msn.com

or by mail:

hermallorn@gmail.com

Right now, I would be interested in having a battle scene, monsters, characters, weapons …

Work done:

  • gnome mage
  • gnomish mecanostrider

The face itself is very good. The ears are excellent. The mustache is cool, but I think its too whispy. Too light. It looks a little too metallic toward the middle. Maybe turn down the spec a little. But other than that it looks great. Oh, and the iris seems to be showing through the left eyelid just a tad, but nothing serious.

I don’t think any of the hair looks right at all. Most of it’s too shiney and the mustache looks wispy and most like it was added with a brush in Photoshop or GIMP or whatever. It is also obvious the shiney hair is a seperate object that is overlapping the head.

In this project, I try to reproduce my main character in WorldOfWarcraft, a gnome wizard to eventually make an anim with spell casting and fights.
As it’s from a game, the gnome does not have to look too “human”, just believable (and as much alike as possible to the character in the game)

here is a little update on my work.

the original (blizzard tm) was:

The bearb+mustache were so damn hard to make. 3000 particles for the beard and 1250 for the mustache

The face sure looks good, it was made with the latest makehuman. With a lot of tweaking, i managed to produce an higly realistic gnome! (the program is just amazing, a gnome is realy off the normal proportion of a human). The skin for now is just the subscatter script from dedalo.com.

I know the material for the hair is still not quite right. I will be working on the top hair tonight (it’s still a simple mesh)

I was going to say it looked like a Gnome from WoW, when I saw the pic in the last post there. Good stuff, looks good.

It’s much better now, but still…

this is the next step:

Do you have a Blend texture appled to the Alpha settings for the hair? It will make it look much more realistic.

gnome with an attitude :< kick ass

I love it.Are you animating him or is it for a game?

In fact I can’t play wow while I am in school, and I miss my character so much that I decided to do a film about him. I hope I will be able to make some cool magical spell and maybe fights.

BrianH: yes I have a blend texture exactly like in the hair texture in wikipedia

I think it would look even better if the moustache hair had alpha blending just like the hair on the beard has.

Good job so far.

like that?:

The trouble is that the external part of the moustache is going inward from a mesh that gives the shape and the center part is going outward. It looks strange at someplaces but it’s the best I could do.
I tried doing it all outward (the normal way, starting from the skin) but it is always too smooth looking on the external part.

Anyone with an idea?

Thats pretty good, perhaps a glimse of what Wow 2 will look like

You had better anim him and make him do the sexy gnome dance!

i love it (a very avid wow gnome player myself) with the latest work to the mustache it looks awsome

here is my mecanostrider:

As you may see, I took more freedom with it. I don’t like the ostrich in WoW, so I made something more like a velociraptor.

(not textured yet…)

Yes, the moustache looks better now.

I’m not sure how to make it look any better. I don’t have experience with making hair flow.

The gnome is getting dressed. softbody for pants and shirt doesn’t work that great for me.
