Wrapping a transparent image to a curved surface?

I have made a coffee cup and want to apply an image to it. I have made a separate plane so that I can make it transparent. I then try to shrink wrap it to the mug and it warps. Is there a better way of doing it?

Here are some images:

This is before I have added the plane with the image on it

Please can I get an answer?

Please post the .blend file. Remember to pack the image with it.

How does one do so?

I don’t understand. You created an invisible plane and wrapped it around the cup for the sole purpose of adding an image to the cup? Can you not add the image to the material of the cup?

I could however, I get a warning about non-uniform scale and it is still deformed…

Go to the advanced setting when posting, there should be an option for attaching files.
I’m not sure if new members can attach files, you should be able to upload it to an external site in that case and posting the link here.

You can pack the files into the .blend by going to file (in blender), sctrolling down to external data and checking the “automatically pack into .blend”
