Wrinkles (Cloth simulation)

Hi, so i’m making this bed and i’m trying to give realism to that blanket using cloth simulation physics but it’s unrealistic, i would like to know how to get some nice wrinkles, because i’ve been tweaking the properties with no success and i don’t know what i’m missing, any ideas?

If it were me, I’d sculpt the detail exactly how I want it. However, if you’re determined to do it by simulation, then keep in mind that you’re simulating a bed being made, not a perfectly flat sheet dropping perfectly straight down.

That is to say, you just gotta introduce a little chaos. Maybe try pinning the corners, simulate, unpin a corner, simulate again, rinse, repeat. If it’s not straight, then simulate tugging on the corners like you would in real life.

And if you haven’t already, add a triangulate modifier to the mesh. It helps wrinkles form. Different patterns will give you different results.

Try using displace modifier with a clouds texture. You can apply 2-3 different displace modifier with different sized textures for various wrinkles.

Here is an example (subdivision surface modifier is optional):

Maybe you could try using an addon by Richcolburn : Modeling CLoth
I played with it for a while and it seems very interesting alternative to manual mesh adjusting.
