WTF does "..." mean

In tooltips we often get an ellipsis ("…") in the python scripting entry, eg:

“Python: FModifierNoise.scale
bpy.data.objects[“Cube”] … scale”

Any clues about the meaning of “…” or how to find out, please.
And why is it there? surely the whole line can’t be so verbose as to need truncating like that.
