Downloaded Wubby. I was really impressed with such simple controls being able to accomplish so much. Probably has to do with the fact that the character itself is really simple in its design. Cool work!

The other 2 are Krita and Ubuntu. I absolutely love Krita for painting. Ubuntu is my default operating system. All open source tools.
Can you talk a little about the lighting setup you used for the Blender Nation banner that is shown 12/9/2012? Is it possible, you can make the rest of the scene available on Blend Swap? As soon as I saw the banner, I found your blog and immediately got Wubby. Very, very nice work.

wineandcheese - the lighting is nothing spectacular, I’m still new and terrible at getting good lighting, especially with BI. I used a cone lamp with a caustic image texture for the under water scene and blue environment lighting with a touch of ambient occlusion. In the beginning of the video you can see the cone lamps spread as Wubby swims from darkness into the light.
THANK YOU BART for making my day with the Blendernation banner post. I have been visiting that site for YEARS and dreamed I could get an image up on the banner one day. Decided when I was finished with Wubby to try so I submitted him. I was doing back flips showing my family how “famous” I was for a day.
