Xmas yet?

couldn’t sleep so I thought I would make another trimmer. there are no leaves yet, I have to figure out a way to make pine needles. It’s a device to make and keep an evergreen the “desired” shape. also I’m playing with the full yafray with cache and photons. A readable and believable image?

WOW now that looks like it

fantastic work

glad to see that it looks like it would be able to trim any tree now

Alltaken

wooohoo you should mail some companies with your pictures and get 'm enthusiastic  well, at least i like the trimmer-series, they look believable indeed! very clean & realistic.

If this constructs weren’t that big and ugly (sorry, I think the main thing is the bonsai, and not the cutter! ) I even would by something like this. Great image!

thanks for the comments,

jerri,
Just so you know Im using Lsytem to create the trees. Also for me it’s the combination of the machine and the tree. the tree acts as a scaling device and helps create tension in the picture, it’s the conflict created by the two objects. the machine is the oppisite of what bonsai is but provides the action to produce the product. to put it in a nutshell it’s ironical. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll try to keep the art speak down to a dull roar.

dude your work is rather flawless but choose another subject already… i think i may go start a huge crystal ball series…

yahhh… well I’m actually working towards a larger goal of making a book that has a series of devices that could possibly exist in the world. somewhere between a catologue where you could buy one of these things and a coffee table book of art objects. That is why it is important to me to get feedback from people who have an eye for the digital image. most people who don’t work with digital imagery can’t see the image as something constructed and so don’t know what to look for. What I am asking from people here (as in the forum) is to point out flaws that they see. That’s why these images are in the WIP. The end goal is have a series of images that are completely believable as something that is real. so having said that. what’s wrong with this image? (not that I don’t like the complements) I just put in a fake blur and yes I put a checker board floor down but I tried to generate flaws in it to make it more real. http://home.midsouth.rr.com/valgardson/nfirclip.jpg

Your device seems to be reflecting the checker board floor a little too clearly. To me it makes the picture seem a little off.
