XSI or BLENDER

HI, i am new in this forum. and this is my first post in it .((i am still noob )):stuck_out_tongue:

i want to know if that xsi was better than blender or no coz i have never used it but some people i,ve met says that XSI is better than blender but i think blender is easier .
so i want the ones who used XSI to tell if its easier or no .
i will be thankfull for your answer .

What does it matter if there’s space on your HD for both? If you’re still a noob it won’t cost you anything to ditch Blender if you don’t like it though.

There should be trail version of XSI or even free version (??). Give them both few days, few tutorials and see what you like better.
Decision is yours which app is better.

This is the wrong tutorial but anyway. XSI is probably better to learn if you were going to go into the industry in 3d design. By this I dont mean that blender is no good (Its excellent) but most studios will use some comercial package to add as a reference to their pieces. Also If you are a client of the product in a commercial out let you may not need to make the tools you need, it may be possible to ask the developers of XSI to make it for you. The community of Blender impresses me more than any other program out there. There seem to be more people helping each other here than any where else, with new communities everywhere else.

If you are deciding still which to take up, Then I say that you should first take up blender, learn how to model and texture well and then use the skills that you have learnt in a commercial product of your choice if the features that blender has does not satisfy you.

Learn both. You can never know enough programms.
To start with, Blender is a great choice because it has a nice learning curve, which keeps you busy (YES, you will have to rtfm - which means “read the manual” ) and it is free. You can easily try it as long as you want and see, if 3D or CG in general is something for you. Then you can use your money to buy XSI and see for yourself.

Easier is always something that depends on your workflow. People say C4D is easy to use but when I tried it for some time, I never got used to it and still stick with Blender. I don’t even have the urge to try something else since Blender’s got all I need as a hobbyist, it’s still growing and it suits my workflow perfectly. What else could I wish for?

So, what I want to say is: before you “waste” your money on buying XSI, make sure you’ll like it. Blender could provide a basic starting for you, so why not give it a try?

as a noob XSI is first out of your price tag and we should not talk about pirated software here and probably also beyond your skill level.

everything you lean in blender in terms of modeling approaches and design philosophy can easily translated into XSI

well i already have it but its sounds hard.
but its running fast on my pc.and blender have some errors on it and render or game it crashes but its easy aswell.

This question should have been asked in the ‘Other Software’ forum.

As for XSI vs Blender, ‘better’ is whichever you prefer. XSI has some pretty powerful tools that Blender lacks. However, Blender is in many ways more convenient. The divide is growing smaller though: for example Blender now has materials nodes like XSI (a welcome improvement if you ask me) and particle hair.

Learn both. Use both. I find mesh modelling more convenient in Blender. Then I just import my models to XSI and play with them there, where I find scene and animation tools more convenient.

Hope this helps.
