downloading the update right now
I got a question,
each time I try to open a .xml Bagigas seem to “stuck” there…I know that in the FAQ you said it need time to parse it and everything…but how long?
I’m opening a 645k .xml file…and it’s been 5min now… :-?
[EDIT]Nevermind, it work now[/EDIT]
Cool. I really like the interface and the fact that I can preview materials/shaders before I render but for some reason, the GUI elimates textures… do you know why that is?
dante
Very good, it’s all I use anymore. I only have one problem - it appears that Bagisas doesn’t close the fast_fresnel tag correctly. It should read:
<fast_fresnel value = "on"/>
But Bagisas writes:
<fast_fresnel value = "on">
</fast_fresnel>
I’m guessing that ‘fast_fresnel’ needs to be added to the SELFCLOSING tuple in TreePanel.py.
How come preview and render image don’t show up, all it says is start rendering with the current time.
Hey ray! You understand my code? That’s cool. And your fix is right, I will update this ASAP.
Al_Capone: Did you set the Path to yafray.exe or the yafray executable in Linux under File->Preferences? If you are using Linux just make sure that yafray is located somewhere in your $PATH. If you did this, what gives you Help->Test Yafray? (Note for the board admins: What a about an OS information for everyones name)
dante, see you over at yafray.org BTW: Do you have a simple example file which causes problems that you can send me?
X-W: Damn, I really need to get into the XML parsing :< What machine do you have, a real fast one?
Any comments about the Preview? Should I add more options? Which?
Windoze 98 SE, yes I set the directory for Yafray, test out Yafray in Dos and works peachy.
And yes, its the updated version.
Sh!t !! You’re the second Win98 user who mentiones problems (I also test under Win98, but encounter some other problems, not this one). Did you do a Help->Test Yafray? A small dialog should come up showing yafrays commandline output.
Did you save your preferencs? (Sorry, have to ask this).
Are there any whitespaces in the path to the yafray-executable?
A fast but dirty solution could be: Put yafray.exe somewhere in your Path, e.g. C.\Windows\command and in the Bagisas preferences just say yafray for the yafray executable. (You have to do this for all future versions of yafray, if you want to use them with Bagisas unless I can fix the error.) You get the path-directories by typing path in the DOS-window
Hope that helps.
I have the same problem under Win 98 SE, having set the path to yafray.exe and saved, xml files don’t open (had to Ctrl+Alt+Del after about 15 minutes).
Serialsiner.
Yup, did the test and nothing shows up, I save the preference, no white spaces.
Not much help
Set path in *.bat ?
Serialsiner, how big is your XML file?
Al_Capone, sorry to hear this. I will try if I can reproduce the bug and see how to fix it. You don’t need to set path, it is already set, just copy yafray.exe in one of the directories path gives you in the DOS-window.
(Dang, I hate Windows :< :-? %| )
Oupsss 2,9 Mo.
I just did a test with a new xml (115 ko) it took about 2 mn to open but I must have missed something cause hitting F9 or F12 doesn’t do anything, I can’t see no picture :-?
I’ll try later, think I must read some manual before.
Serialsiner.
Dear Mr. Capone, dear Mr.Serialsinner (and all the other Win98 SE user out there with the same problem) please try the following:
@echo off
c:\yafray\yafray.exe %1 %2 %3
Save this file as yafray.bat in C:\windows. You now have a file C:\Windows\yafray.bat
In Bagisas goto Preferences and under yafexecutable just put in: yafray (No .exe, no C.\Windows needed)
Save your preferences, and try to render.
Hope that helps!
The new yafray.bat has been added and there is no effect for the moment, no preview no rendering: bagisas says start render [hh;mn;ss] and no image Loaded.
I didn’t reboot my pc so I’ll try again tomorrow (For me now it’s close to midnight and something evil’s lurking in the dark and I go to bed)
See you tomorrow, hope it works
Serialsiner.
I reboot mine and nothing different.
Sorry guys! I really have no clue what’s going on and how this can be fixed.
The last chance I see is that this has something to do with Pythons popen2-module, I will search the newsgroups if somebody has mentioned this before, but I am not sure if I will get a fix for the bug.
Really sorry!
(There is one thing that makes me very angry: I have Win98SE, too. Two machines. And on both machines I can’t reproduce the error. Grrr)
I know this is v0.0.6, but later I would really like to be able to:
It is a really nice GUI, I’m learning yafray right now, and thank you for bagisas, so please do not take this as a complaint, for it is not that, I’m just shooting for the perfect gui (for me at least)
I have only encountered one ‘bug’, I used the other gui and I added a texture, I loaded the scene into bagisas, it showed the texture right, but later yafray wasn’t able to render the scene, it showed an error message (which explained nothing besides the place of the error ) Is there a way to work around this? Repeat, I am just learning yafray
Thanx again for creating this great app.
Schlop, just program the application in C++.
Works fine with GUI Yafray.
