Hi, I wanted to try this out for the first time, so i downloaded version 0.3 and tried to load an old file. It created the .xml file, but when I tried to render it I got a “file not found” error complaining that it couldn’t find (I think it was called) cgjpg6.dll or something like that. I see in the documentation that it was suppose to install some files in the windows directory, but I couldn’t find this file on my system.
Were these files not included in the latest version, or am I doing something else wrong maybe?
i got the same thing with a runtime error 53 - doze gui (running on xp pro) and yable 2.9… would love to check this baby out. another question i had about YAFRay is bump mapping implimented yet?
About the bump mapping. It’s not done yet, but will be. Hope soon, but I cannot asure you cause I don’t know what problems could appear. I’m always pesimist
In the generic shader you can map a texture to hard, specular, reflection, refraction, etc… check it
About displacement. That requires mesh subdivision and so. I always thought that that was better done in the modeler so you can control the amount of triangles.
Even BMRT didn’t do displacement with meshes, only with nurbs.
In the last update I only upload in the web site a zip file with an actualization for the old version installer (only exe and grammar file, not dll’s).
Now a windows installer (all required files) is available at the Yafray site.
I find myself examining the xml files in notepad because I’m not to clear on the shader settings. I use Yable , but the the latest version of Yafray won’t run the Yable xmls I output to the docfile. Yeah, as a side point I think that Yable would be better if there was better documentation on the shader settings for basic 3d objects types glass, matte, metal, etc. I would like to know how to setup my already great and fast rendering Blender scenes for similar output to xmls from Yable to Yafray.
(Something weird happened when I selected my own html link to post wooo!?)
Anyway-
Ok, I got Yable to work with the new Windows install Yafray by turing off the “background” option. But the Yable shader settings are still bothering me.
And here’s an old Radiosity Tip. Put your entire scene in a box, camera, objects, lights, etc. Your scene will render faster and you won’t see any light areas bleeding at the corners of your walls.
I tracked down my previously mentioned error myself. Yable 0.0.29 was sending out an object from my Blender file that consisted of only a single vertex. This was causing the dump in Yafray 0.0.3.
I will keep trying to send my best Blender work at Yable and then Yafray. When I have something to show worth showing I will show it. Hopefully I will help to convince other Blender users to use the powerful Blender rendering tools.
Keep coding and mabe 3d folks all around will forget about using the other apps for rendering, etc, etc, hehehehe!
got yable 3… still getting a runtime error 53 without any explanation of a perticular file missing or error that could be due to a bad export. trying this on simple sphere scene just to see it run. so far it’s dead on the floor and POV is about to step on it.
I keep getting the following error when I run yable…
Traceback (most recent call last):
File “Yable-0.30.py”, line 1401, in bevent
File “Yable-0.30.py”, line 2245, in export
File “Yable-0.30.py”, line 3994, in exporttoyafray
File “Yable-0.30.py”, line 3724, in addmesh
AttributeError: data
Any help would be appreciated… I’ll keep pluggin away at it and try and read through more info on the web sites…

mmmmh…this does not happen on my system, maybe it depends on the mesh…
Just a question…on which Blender version you are running YaBle?

Andrea
It seems that YaBle is Trying to export a mesh with no data…
could you send me your .blend file?
Hope it is a small one!! :-?
Consider that I am on a 56K modem…
i run yable 3 and export then i open the windows gui of yafray… select the xml and then click trace… then it comes up - runtime 53 file not found but doesn’t say which file then kills itself.
