YafRay not rendering textures...

I felt this should go here since it is in fact the renderer that is doing this.

If I use Blender Internal, the water has the natural rippling effect (produced by using two cloud textures)

However, if I use YafRay, it doesn’t work, and thus doesn’t render the textures at all. Is there a settings that I’m missing or what?

I’ve tried various ways to fix this, but nothing seem’s to be working =\

Hi there.
It should render, though Yafray doesn’t support all of Blender’s features, such as Stucci textures for example. Can you post up a screen shot of the settings?

Sure, here they are:

http://www.starfleetplatoon.com/~suisfonia/shots/Shot2.jpg <-- Ramp, Mirror Trans, Map Input

http://www.starfleetplatoon.com/~suisfonia/shots/Shot4.jpg <-- Texture, Clouds
http://www.starfleetplatoon.com/~suisfonia/shots/Shot5.jpg <-- Texture, Clouds

Can’t see anything wrong with the settings. I don’t have Blender on this machine so I can’t test anything just now.
I can’t figure that out though, its not even rendering the colour difference?

Maybe it is very subtle?
Have you looked at this - http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Texturing_Basic_Seawater
It is specifically for Yafray, though it is also for 2.42 so it is a bit old.

Hi, Ifinally got a chance to take a look at this with Blender. I think you just need to increase the settings, it works ok here.

Well I got that to work out somewhat but need to improve upon it, thanks Organic.

Edit: Figured out the other problem, it was a silly msitake of me raising the lighting power to over 3000…

Ok… seems I can’t get this to improve itself.

I’ve tried raising the settings, as mentioned in my post, but the best I can do is whats in the picture below. I can’t seem to get it have a wavey look to it.

Can you please list your settings - or are you infact using my own? (sorry I’m being a bother now, really trying to get this to work…

Here is the one I used for testing. You may need to change the scale and colour to suit your project.

water.blend (98.3 KB)

I seem to remember a while back I had similar transparency problems that I eventually solved by moving the internal objects to a different layer - worked a treat.

Thanks Organic, it worked better than I had hoped

I wasn’t aware some of those settings you used actually made that much of a difference, esh, I still have a lot ot learn about texturing still…
