i really hope that you guys can help me

Have you already downloaded YafRay seperatley? If not go to www.yafray.org and download it.

Looks like the yafray module is being called.

Could it be something simple like your lights aren’t being evaluated properly?

Try this one as a test… https://blenderartists.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=43725&highlight=glass+yafray+blend

I’ve used his blend file for testing updates, and with the latest I only had to go into the materials and set it to “colored glass” and it worked pretty well.

i can not download theblend files, maybe they are not uploaded anymore.
i have installed yafray with the rpm from ther site. i also wrote that
in the first post.

I’m not sure if the output is the same for linux but…

  1. I never get errors and warnings without a consequence - and I guess yafray doesn’t show them for fun.
  2. I can’t see that anything’s loaded…usually there are some lines starting with
[LOADER]: Added Object xzy / Lamp xyz / whatever

I can’t see that in your log so it seems that yafray is rendering a blank scene, as the loader seems to load the maincam only.

You might want to check your blender scene or even better export to a .xml file and check if the exporter actually works.

you asked for it so here you go, this scene takes 3 min to render with the intern and
yafray say i takes it 2 min to render a black scene.

this is the error meassage i got when rendering this scene in yafray with and xml file of the scene:

and i dont think there is anything wrong with the scene,
if you whant to try to render the scene with yafray the you can get it here.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7ZPXZCHN

//Bai

i suggest “man ldconfig”…

It can’t load any plugins, hence it can’t load any of the shaders, lights and backgrounds, hence the image must be black… %|

what is man ldconfig and how do i dot it ?

//Bai

Ouch…you’re telling me you never heard of MAN pages?
You better enter “man ldconfig” in google and then you’ll use the search function of the yafray forum…

Anyway, i just remember the plugin path is fixed at compile-time, so the RPM may just have installed the plugins to the wrong directory.
If they are in /usr/locaL/lib/yafray try moving them to /usr/lib/yafray and vice versa (i didn’t build the RPM so i don’t know which way they are misaligned)

Yeah, the scene seems to be alright, I could render it with Yafray.
So, go with Lynx3D, it seems to make sense what he’s saying and I’m not really into Linux.

BTW; that Megaupload thing is tricky. I ALMOST did not find the file…

Hi,

i’m using blender 2.49b and recently installed the yafray.exe.

Now i rendered this simple cube from the blender start scene. Rendered with blenders default renderer it is an ordinary cube on a blue background, nothing special but i can see it clearly.
Then I tried “render > yafray export” and then just hitting “render” from the yafray-buttons. It renders, but the picture is very dark…almost black.

What did I do wrong? Do i have to switch on a particular button or make any other ajustments?

You didn’t set up any lighting. Lights, materials and render settings must be set up in the Yafaray gui. Please read the user guide -
http://yafaray.org/documentation/userguide

Also, yafaray is different from yafray.

Ok, i will do that…
Somehow I thought, when it looks halfway good with blender’s default renderer it must look at least just as well in yafray.

Yes…the “a”.

Just in case you don’t know, its not just the a.
They are different pieces of software.
