Yafray problems

How do I use Yafray to render my model? I choose Yafray from Scene and press F12 but nothing happens. The render window opens but it remains black. What am i doing wrong?

not same for me but i cant see halo in yafray and.wich version of yafray are you using?

0.0.7 i think

There’s so much which could have gone wrong. First make sure that Yafray is properly installed (the current version is 0.0.9, by the way). Then it might be a good idea to see if there’s actually a camera active (and pointing into a direction in which there is something to be seen) and if there are some sources of light in the scene, may it be direct or indirect (GI). If that all is not helping you, you should try Yafray with other scenes (or did you do that already?) to see if it works there and if you still got no clues, you might look into the Console window (Yafray’s printing out various informations there, which are quite hepful, whatever you do with Yafray) and tell us what is written there and / or post the .blend file, along with all informations you have, like system specs and stuff.

can i get yafray 0.0.9 and install it for use instead of 0.0.7. If so, then ill try to do that first. If it doesnt work, then I’ll do what u said at the end

Ya it works  I installed yafray 0.0.9

you cant see halos in yafray,y is this?

Im not excactly sure what Yafray does… Im just guessing, install Yafray, then better renders in Blender?

Not quite so black and white.

Yafray gives better ray-tracing and caustics. I you don’t need ray-tracing, you should stick to blender internal. I’ve also noticed, that one has to actually know how to configure things for Yafray, before it gives much better result than Blender internal.

Yafray do not render halo materials, you’ll to composite them from an internal pass if you want them …

A look at http://yafray.org/ will help, if you want to know what Yafray really is…

But as Glen said, if it was that easy, everyone would use Yafray…just a few things which makes things look better are, for example, GI and Caustics. Both which are not supported by Blender’s internal renderer but which add a lot of realism to scenes, which need them. Blender has vertain ways to fake them, but obviously they’re not the real thing.
So, what I mean is: not particularly better, but in some cases more accurate and therefore more realistic.
