Yafray test (how original): Siemens M35i

Well, as a lot of people have, I’ve been fiddling with YafRay a bit the last few days and I must say…WOAH! PPPPRRRRRRRRRRRR! ARIBAAAAA!
(read: it’s nice)

besides upgrading some of my old models:

I also modelled some new stuff to try texturing and stuff:

I want to texture those buttons on the phone but I have no idea how to do it. I have to uv-texture them, but I want to use the alpha of the texture so only the letters are visible and not the rest (want to keep the colour of the buttons). Any ideas on how to do this? I’m not really a uc-mapping Guru

Very nice. I still havent a clue about basic texturing in yable/yafray. But thats probably because i dont have much of a clue about texturing for blender anyway.

texturing in yafray:

  • uv texture the object as usual (press F, open an imagewindow, load a file)

  • go to the material properties in Yable, select “add uv-texture”

  • click on the little - sign and select ADD jpeg

  • enter the complete path of the image you used to uvtexture the object with.

  • press OK, and then BACK.

voilá!

Dead link here (Strange, from BlenderChat they worked…)

DNS trouble…sigh…
I think it works again.

Nice work Goofster. Some edges on the phone could use some smoothin gout, but I don’t think that was your main goal here. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have finally got this to work now. I am so excited!
