hey, yafray is becoming a popular topic, and i among many would like some tutorials from those who know how to use the darn thing, especially in the lighting area… also materials, like caustics and refraction n so on… any tutorial would be appreciated =D
ive been learning at a good pace, but cant figure out how to use allthe lights and what all the options do, goofster helped me out with refraction and reflection, but im stumpified when it comes to caustics and a good realistic light setup… =D
I second what Imgrandpaboy said. I just got yafray to work, but man! There are so many options and things to adjust, I need some help with a good default setup.
Each new version of Yafray seems to bring newer features and major tweaks to the way that old ones work. The versions seem to be coming out fairly quickly, so a tute that someone spends four hours making today might be worthless two weeks from now. What I’d rather see is a little bit better documentation for the releases. Something like a list of all of the parameters, what they do technically, and what actual rendering effects changing them will have (i.e., “if you set it below 0.05 you’ll get something more like this, and it’ll look more and more like so-and-so as it approaches 0.8, etc.”)
But if someone wants to invest the time to make a tute, I’m sure I’ll look at it too.
If anyone has specific ideas of things they’d like to see on it, post to the thread on the chat page or I’ll get confused and lose them
S68 - Can I add a link to your image (or give those settings?) ?
I will credit you on the site
SerialSiner - What OS are you using? To open a DOS window on Win95/98, click the start button, choose run, type “command” and click OK
If you’re using NT/XP/2000 then type “cmd” in the run box. If you’re using ME then I don’t know!
Once you have a command prompt you’ll need to be able to find your xml files to render, so type "cd " to get to the ‘root’ of your hard driver, then use “cd” to change directory to wherever you told Yable to output your files (you did set the ROOT=“path/to/exportdir/” didn’t you? )[/b]
