Yafray Tutorials

I’m very new to Blender literally this week, and OK I’m trying to run (the difficult stuff) before I can walk. I have had good results so far in Blender 2.27. I wanted to try Yafray and yable using the tutorial from :-

I cannot get it to work even after following those instructions to the letter.

I can export the xml via yable from blender.

I am using the yafray GUI but when I go to render it crashes. It says there is a problem with yafray or the xml.

Are there any other good tutors for yafray, or some known good xml files I can download to test yafray?

Any Help you can give would be appreciated.

In the first new of the yafray homepage (www.yafray.org) you have a xml to download. You can also download some xmls from section “downloads” (original, isn’t it? :wink: ) from the same site.

And also, you have a forum for posting YafRay problems…

I’ve tried those files on the Yafray site. They seem to be corrupt certainly yafray GUI will not run them. I will post on the yafray forum as well.

I will look at the tutorial suggested. Time to get out my spainish dictionary.

Files are ok, might be a GUI problem.

PS: Uhm… Maybe if you’re clicking on the xml link your browser try to parse xml.gz instead of download it. Try with right button and “Save file as…”.

EDIT!: Ouch! :expressionless: Sorry, my fault, the link in the new was broken. Now is correct. Maybe, for futures errors, you can try also download xmls from “downloads” section.

it`s a pretty cool gui and works fine for me.

BTW, i`ve just tested the same tutorial file on T.BaBas and Bagasis,
without any troubles.

try rebooting after the gui installs and read the what
ever you can get your hands on:)

Many thanks Dale. I have tried Bagasis with same result so I will have to do some more investigating.
The biggest problem using blender and all the wonderful tools is finding enough time to explore them all. Anyway when I find the reason for my problem I will post here just in case others have similar problems.
