I lost the original .blend for this one, so I’ll call it finished.
C&C welcome. And if someone could give me a hint on how to make a mud/clay cube in water, I’ll prbabaly do it again with all the new tools in blender.
In terms of modelling the cube, fractal subdivision would be good (with smoothing of course) to get that randomised natural feel for mud/clay. Most of the clay/mud look will come from your texturing though and that comes down to what textures you can make because I doubt you will find many suitable ones online or elsewhere.
hey supernoob, this may seem a bit off topic, but i was looking at your sig, and what are the widgets good for? I can’t figure out a single flippin use for them…
now, on topic, the blender logo looks cool, and i like the underwater effect. fairly simple but pretty cool.
there are 3 different widgets that preform transform functions.
If you click and drag the handels, you’ll see.
I love the underwater effect lighting on this one, too!
This is the most interesting “Yellow Cube with Interesting lighting” topic we’ve had in a while, lol.
On topic, I like the model, seems clean, and gets the point across…
Some things to make it seem more like its underwater would be
- Sand/Particles floating around.
- A more… Infinite ground…
- IMHO, Not so blue! %|
I am an orange person, lol.

It needs to be BRIGHTER. If you have a copy of the GIMP or photoshop, try putting a copy of this image on a layer above itself and perform a gaussian blur on the copy. Then set its blend mode to screen. That should help with the underwater effect slightly. You can adjust the effect simply by adjusting the opacity of the top layer.
As for the widgets… get it right man. They’re called “Blezmos”.
