This is part of a non-commercial film project. I had to (virtually) destruct a small wooden house using a single plate. Here are the steps:
- mask and remove the house, fill the background (Photoshop)
- build a rough copy of the house with textures projected from view
- create a scene with with the house dummy and image plate as background
- use a particle system and explode modifier to destruct the house and create debris
- use Mantaflow to do the actual explosion
- render with eevee (2.93 alpha), 350 frames, 50fps
What I learned in Mantaflow : never set the vorticity to higher values (>0.2) if you want to avoid crashes
