yet another idea for a series (read this if at all possible)

Last night I was watching “24.” I liked how ballsy it was with the real-time presentation. I wondered what else would be as gutsy as that. Then I came up with this idea… or three or four, actually.

The plot isn’t decided yet, because (get this) the audience really “participates” in how the story goes. You see, I want to make it so that every time there’s a cliffhanger, people wonder about what’ll happen next, but they also can help make it happen.

The first problem is which of these three stories I’ll use, and since audience participation is key here, I decided to let you guys choose.

Vampires: Three vampires drive into a city in a van. Meanwhile, an indie film star finds out that not only do vampires exist, but that they have recently gained the ability to live during the day.

Androids: Two warring countries use androids to fight. One side can take out the whole human race, and because the other knows they can’t win, they invade the other country with robots of their own.

Nightmares: A young man has found parallels in his dreams to his waking life. Fearing that something strange might happen, he tries to stay awake, but soon he gets a little sleepy.

These are ideas for the “pilot.” Later episodes take more detail into the stories. But enough about that. Which one will you choose? Thanks for your time.

PS: Vote now. I don’t know when this will close!

I’d definitely go for the 'Devils ‘n Deamons’ one!

I watched “24” for the very first time last night, and I was somewhat impressed. The only thing that bugged me is that 1) I’m pretty sure if you blow up a nuke, you don’t get a nuclear explosion, and 2) I think that airbursts produce less fallout, and depending on the yeild, there is a “fallout safe” height, so crashing the plane, causing a surface burst, rather than lingering over the area at the aircraft’s ceiling seemed a bit stupid to me.

Anyhow… Hey Cube, why don’t you start a single thread, and use that one thread each time you have a new idea, instead of starting different threads for each? :stuck_out_tongue:

Imp

Oh, one other thing… was anyone else not-suprised at the guy in the back of the plane? Once the phone call with the dude’s daughter was over, I kept thinking “Ok… it’s about the time the other dude came out.”

Imp

Actually, I wasn’t watching the new episode. I haven’t started the second season; I’m watching the first on DVD. I know what happens in the end of season 1, though. It sucks.

Fligh %, there’s no “Devils And Demons” one. Do you mean vampires or nightmares?

BTW: You’re more than likely overlooking something. Vampires, Androids, and Nightmares, as an acronym, spells out “Van.” It’s a small hint as to plot points. In fact, “Devils And Demons” spells out “Dad.”

I’ll second that, next time, post in one of your gazillion other threads.

Martin

Theeth, I’m not S68. %| (Oh sh*t! I’m going to get banned!) I don’t have an infinite number of threads. It just seems like it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know why you have to ask everyone’s opinion? Just do it. Regardless of what you do, people will either hate, love, or be disinterested. You can’t please everyone.

Cree, the excuse for this one :stuck_out_tongue: is that it’s audience participation-centered. Thus, you guys have to help me decide.

I should probably redo the original post for one reason. (Does so.)

Hey Cube, that’s cheating. There was definitely a Devils and Deamons when I voted. You just edited it out because of my age thinking if us ol’ grandads vote for it it’s no good. You’re probably not even in high school yet, you’re meant to be learning tai-ping, and here you are spending all your creative energy manipulating a democratic poll. This is howcome we end up with the kind of politicians we have to live with! Censoring your own vulgarity would normally be considered a virtue, but since you keep reminding us the government is watching, you’re probably just kissing their ass by manipulating polls. Well I’ll be dead by the time you make it to Washington!

Or… maybe your acronyms were an afterthought and you realized that Dads’ Van and your bungee animation could incriminate you. Where did you get that idea?

I’m not quite sure what your point is here

You came up with that? Then you’d probably be pissed off if I told you that ‘that’ idea wasn’t new.
Theres a show here (well there was a series finale a couple of months ago) about a Magazine company (1 ep/week) after each episode, the audience either emails, calls or send mails to the show on what they think should happen next.
But I get where your coming from.

Nukes have to be electronically activated and detonated. Blowing them up won’t do anything.

Exactly. Well… somewhat. From what I understand an precisely controlled even explosive force has to be applied for detonation, but pretty much right… it has to be detonated for a nuclear reaction, blowing it up wouldn’t cause it. At worst, it’d be like a dirty nuke, spreading the radiation, but it wouldn’t have to be that large a demolition charge, small enough to be controlled and contained. But hey… it’s drama. That’s still not quite as bad as what I think is the worst peice of made-up movie reality: “Masterminds”, where the kid hacks into some company’s network using a freakin’ joy stick and computer-game style interface. :< :< :<. I guess some movie executive idiots assume that if some young kids like it, and do it well, it must be similar to something you’d find on an X-Box or PS2… they wouldn’t possibly be interested in something as bland as a text console, and use the keyboard!! I think my sister learned all she knows about computers from movies… she tries to keep her keyboard way over to the side of her desk, begrudingly pulling it out when needed (as seldom as possible, hehe). Of course, she uses that stupid IM speak (How r u?, C u l8r, etc).

Riskbreaker: I don’t care if it’s not original.

  1. My AP1538 wasn’t original–the whole anthology thing was done before by the awesome “TZ” and “Outer Limits” shows, originals, obviously–but I’m still wanting to do it.
  2. I don’t know where you live.
  3. The stories aren’t about magazine companies.

It’s just a little thing I did to get ideas. I’ve got writer’s block, and I’ll do anything to get an idea. Okay, maybe I won’t do anything, but I do some things right now that I wouldn’t do when I can get ideas well, such as brainstorm for (2-digit-number) keywords or mixing two movies. However, in every one of these plots, a van will play a part in the story.

Cube:

  1. Not my point, but…whatever.
  2. Didn’t epxpect you to.
  3. Again, the magazine plot, wasn’t my point.
  4. Relax. Theres no need to be meticulous about this.
