i played around with toon shaders, spotlights, and nodes, and came up with this:
what do you think?
Subsurface scattering is a mechanism of light transport in which light penetrates the surface of a translucent object, is scattered by interacting with the material, and exits the surface at a different point.
im sorry but what was the purpose of posting that??? he did not ask what SSS was??
Nice SSS.
I think he ment that he doesn’t see the SSS. I guess you would say the effect is subtle (more noticable around the ear). Could you give us a render showing different lighting setups, or one with shadows? Or Better yet, post the .blend file!
This effect is very slight, there’s many better ways to achieve SSS. Hopefully Blender will get a decent SSS shader soon.
Could you post the .blend with the shader? I wouldn’t mind experimenting with it.
yeah i’ll upload it in a little while
