Yet another texture problem

Okay, I’m following another Blender Guru tutorial and I’m completely lost and confused as to how I would achieve this in Cycles or Eevee using the Node/Compositor Editor. In this tutorial - around the 8:01 mark (https://www.blenderguru.com/tutorials/create-a-foggy-window) - Andrew goes on about how you have to disable colour, enable the Alpha, and convert RGB to Intensity. I haven’t got a clue as to how I would achieve all this with Nodes. :frowning:

Can someone help?

Are you using 2.8 or 2.79?

I’m using 2.8

^ This is what hes saying. Forget about Intensify to RGB, i dont think u need it anymore.

I can get the window looking foggy, but I still can’t get the water mark effects to show. :-\

I think you mean this?

I guess so. I mean, isn’t that a similar way of applying the texture to the material like he mentions in the video…? When he does that he says it’s okay, but not accurate. His results, around the 11:34 mark, make it look different. He changes the Repeat as well.

Use the nodes like this. Hes not using the Old method.

To repeat texture, Add a texture coordinate node and a mapping node in the Shader Editor

Thank you so much for this. I think I’ve got some results I’m happy with. This has also been helping me experiment more with nodes.

You’re welcome, glad its settled!

Heh. Well, not quite… I’m onto the next stage, which involves trying to combine two images together by adding a water droplet effect. :stuck_out_tongue:

Still experimenting with getting the water droplets to appear. I’m getting there, but I would love to know how Andrew achieved the look he got in the tutorial around 14:37. Those droplets look to be white in the middle and black on the outside, but I just can’t replicate that. How would one do that using nodes?
