Amazing work ! Well done ! It’s great to see so much dedication in all aspects !
Excellent work.
If I may nitpick, from a design standpoint it seems worrisome to consider it effectively can not land at all while it transports one of those containers.
Not just would it need to grab them while hovering (What if stormy weather renders such precise hover flight impossible? What if the cargo itself moved, i.e. on deck of a ship during rough seas?), but also in case of emergency, if it literally isn’t capable to perform a forced landing exept if dropping the cargo (
) before, that’s asking for trouble. And for casualties, in fact.![]()
So the legs doubling as claws are a cool and elegant idea on paper, but no engineer in their right mind would ever consider building such a craft.![]()
But still it does sure look great.

Analysing this from a practical engineering point of view doesn’t make any sense. Having thrusters that would produce acceleration to speeds of thousands of miles an hour when the design of the craft would produce such enormous air resistance much beyond 100 miles per hour that it would tear the structure apart doesn’t add up. Compared to the size of the humans, some of the bolts would be ten feet across. Huge amounts of external plumbing looks really cool, but exposes all manner of hazards. One could go on, but as I said, it makes no sense to do that. Machines like this are designed only to look cool. And this looks really cool.
@Ozyris What’s your point here? Are you just trying to argue with me?
And frankly, I doubt your own examples even hold. Look at LNG tankers, offshore oil rigs, refineries, chemical plants. All have external plumbing for days and no engineer in the world ever tried to “design them to look cool” (whatever that means) at all.
And air drag is a function of speed of movement while within the (thicker layers of) the atmosphere, not of acceleration. To avoid problems, the craft may simply fly at less than full thrust during takeoff.

Great work. The design of the ship and the realistic textures are great, along with all the different kinds of labels.
How am I arguing with you?
Tankers, oil refineries etc don’t fly at all, and the ones that do move (oil rigs) do so very slowly.
To achieve orbit around a planet the size of earth requires reaching speeds of 17,000 - 20,000 mph for a craft the size of Falcon 9. Escape velocity is even faster. Travelling at less than say 200 mph until one is outside of the atmosphere does not make sense. Which is why space ships are smooth and shaped the way they are.
My point was actually agreeing with you, that such a vehicle would not be contemplated by serious engineers, and that its design is really for aesthetic considerations.
OK, my bad, sorry for the missunderstanding. ![]()
Amazing work on the ship, can’t even imagine how long it must have taken to model, unwrap and texture all those parts and create the decals.![]()
(plus rig, refine and do everything else)
WOw sick modeling and materials, are those textures made with Substance or something?
PS that animation is really great! That landing gear feels like the paws of birds, they way they grip onto something.
PS looking at your Artstation, you made some sick progress pretty fast. Did you started doing this type of modeling just last year? The amount of details with each new models, fastly scles up. Impressive work!
